Family Hub Privacy Policy

Effective: September 26, 2026

Family Hub is a private household organizer developed and operated by Steve Megitt for his family's own use. It shows our shared calendar, chores, lists and meal plans on a kitchen display and on our phones. It is not offered to the public, and new accounts can only be added by a parent in the household.

This policy explains what information Family Hub collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Account information. Your email address, used to send sign-in links, and the display name, colour and role (parent or teen) a parent assigns to your profile.

Google Calendar data. If you choose to connect a Google account, Family Hub requests read-only access to your calendars (the calendar.readonly scope). It reads the list of your calendars and the events on the calendars you select: title, time, location, description and recurrence. Family Hub never creates, changes or deletes anything in your Google account. It also stores the Google account email you connected and an access token that lets it refresh your events.

Household content you create. Events, chores, chore completions, points, rewards, lists, list items, recipes and meal plans that household members add in the app.

Content you send for import (when this feature is enabled). Emails you forward to the household's import address, and photos or text you submit, so Family Hub can turn them into draft events, list items or meals.

Technical information. Basic logs our hosting provider keeps to run the service securely, such as sign-in times and error reports.

We do not collect location data, contacts, payment information, or advertising identifiers.

How we use information

We use information only to run Family Hub for the household:

• to show each person's calendar events, colour-coded by person, on the kitchen display and in the app;
• to track chores, points, rewards, lists and meals;
• to create draft events or list items from content you choose to import, for a household member to review and approve;
• to keep the service secure and fix problems.

We do not sell, rent or share information for advertising, and we do not use it to build profiles for any purpose outside the app.

Google user data

Family Hub's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Specifically:

• Google Calendar data is used only to display your events inside Family Hub to members of your household.
• It is not sold, rented or given to data brokers or information resellers, and it is never used for targeted or personalized advertising, credit-worthiness or lending decisions, or to build databases.
• Google user data obtained through Google Workspace APIs is not used to develop, improve or train generalized or non-personalized AI or machine-learning models, and is not transferred to any third party for that purpose.
• It is not transferred to anyone except the service providers listed below, as needed to run the app.
• No person reads your Google data except household members viewing the app, unless you ask for help with a problem, it is needed for security, or the law requires it.

Who processes information for us

• Lovable Cloud (Supabase) hosts the app, database, sign-in and background jobs.
• Google provides calendar data you choose to connect.
• An email delivery provider sends sign-in links and, when enabled, receives forwarded import emails.
• An AI model provider, when the import feature is enabled, processes the content you submit for import to extract events or items. Content is sent only when you submit it, and is not used to train the provider's models under our settings.
• Instacart, only when a household member taps "Send to Instacart", receives the grocery item names and quantities on that list. Nothing else is shared with Instacart.

These providers may store data outside Canada, including in the United States.

Children and teens

Family Hub is used by our family, including children under 18. Children's accounts are created and managed by a parent. Teen accounts cannot grant points, edit rewards, or manage other members. A parent can review, change or delete any information in a child's account at any time.

Retention and deletion

Synced Google events are kept only for the sync window (about 30 days in the past to 180 days ahead) and are removed when they fall outside it, are deleted in Google, or the calendar is disconnected.

When you disconnect a Google account in Family Hub, its stored tokens and synced events are deleted. You can also revoke Family Hub's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions, which stops all further syncing.

Other household content is kept until a member deletes it. A parent can delete any account, which removes that person's profile, connections and synced data.

Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access is limited by row-level security so each account can only reach its own household's data, and Google tokens are stored where only the server can read them.

Your choices

You can see and edit your information in the app, disconnect Google accounts, or ask a parent to delete your account. To ask a question about this policy or request deletion, contact steve.megitt@gmail.com.
